Overview

Portugal has a way of slowing time down. Maybe it’s the golden afternoon light that settles over Lisbon’s terracotta rooftops, or the way a glass of vinho verde on a sun-warmed terrace makes you forget you ever had a schedule. Sun, Salt & Saudade is a six-night journey through one of Europe’s most beloved and endlessly surprising destinations — from the winding alleyways of Alfama to the dramatic clifftop palaces of Sintra, from vineyard lunches in the Alentejo to freshly grilled fish at a sea-bleached coastal table. You’ll have the freedom to explore on your own terms, the comfort of a beautifully curated group experience, and the quiet luxury of a room that’s entirely yours. This is what travel feels like when someone else handles the details.

The City Meets You at the Door

Your journey begins the moment you land. A Solo Sojourn host and private transfer will be waiting to bring you to your hotel in the heart of Lisbon — a place that will quickly feel like a home base. Settle into your room, explore your neighborhood, and take your first stroll along the river before the evening begins. Tonight, the group comes together for the first time.

Welcome Dinner · Night 1 The Toast That Starts Everything A private welcome dinner in a candlelit 19th-century wine cellar in Chiado — the kind of place that immediately says: this trip is going to be something. Morning Wellness · 6:30 AM — Sunrise yoga on the hotel terrace. A gentle, grounding practice to begin the day.

Today takes you out of the city and into the extraordinary — the UNESCO-listed town of Sintra, perched in forested hills with the Atlantic on the horizon. Your group splinters here by choice, each following her own path through the morning.

    Lisbon on Your Own Terms

Morning Wellness · 6:30 AM — Breathwork and meditation. A practice in presence before a day full of it.

Today is Lisbon’s day. The city unfolds in every direction from your hotel — cobbled staircases, vintage trams, the mingling scent of pastéis and espresso. Alfama, Mouraria, Belém, Baixa — each neighborhood its own world.

Culture The Art of the Tile A small-group azulejo workshop with a master tile painter, preceded by a guided visit to the Museu Nacional do Azulejo. You’ll leave with a tile you made yourself.Adventure Lisbon by E-Bike A guided e-bike tour through Lisbon’s seven hills — up past miradouros, down through Alfama, along the waterfront at Belém — ending with a lunch of local petiscos by the river.Leisure Markets, Miradouros & Pastéis A slow morning at the Mercado da Ribeira followed by a personal itinerary of Lisbon’s most scenic viewpoints, a guided café tasting, and a long, unstructured afternoon lunch.
Group Dinner · Night 3 Fado in Alfama Dinner in the soul of the city — a traditional Alfama tasca with live fado performed at intimate close. The music will ache and soar and leave you a little changed. Wine flows. The night lingers.

    Wine Country, the Long Way

Morning Wellness · 6:30 AM — Movement and sound bath. Ground yourself before a day of gentle indulgence.

Today the whole group journeys together into the rolling golden landscape of the Alentejo — Portugal’s wine country, where cork oaks shade ancient villages and time moves differently. This is a curated full-group day: a private vineyard visit, a long alfresco lunch among the vines, and a late afternoon return as the light turns amber.

Full Group · Alentejo Wine Day A Vineyard Afternoon Private transport to a family-owned Alentejo quinta — a guided tour of the estate, an olive oil and wine tasting led by the winemaker, and a long, leisurely lunch on the terrace with seasonal local produce and as many pours as you’d like. This is the kind of afternoon that ruins you for ordinary days.
Group Dinner · Night 4 A Quiet Table in the Old Town A more intimate evening — a private dining room in a beautifully restored Pombaline townhouse in Baixa, with a tasting menu of modern Portuguese cuisine. Small plates, big conversations.

    The Coast Calls

Morning Wellness · 6:30 AM — Yoga nidra and intention-setting before your last full day in Portugal.

The Arrábida Natural Park, less than an hour south of Lisbon, holds some of the most dramatic coastline in Europe: limestone cliffs, turquoise coves, and water so clear it reads as Caribbean. Three tracks, three ways to spend your last full day.

Culture Setúbal & the Muscat Route A small-group cultural tour of historic Setúbal — a fish market, a maritime museum, and a wine tasting at a Moscatel de Setúbal producer. Lunch at a local marisqueira with the catch of the day.Adventure Kayak the Blue Lagoons A guided kayaking tour through the sea caves and hidden coves of Arrábida, with a snorkeling stop in the clearest water you’ve ever been in. Picnic lunch on the rocks.Leisure Beach Club & Bliss A private beach transfer to a boutique beach club on the Arrábida coast — sun loungers, a long seafood lunch, a swim in the Atlantic, and absolutely nothing you have to do.
Farewell Dinner · Night 5 An Evening to Remember Forever The final dinner is set on the terrace of a hilltop quinta overlooking the glittering lights of Lisbon at night — a multi-course celebration with a live Portuguese guitarist, a champagne toast, and a table full of women who arrived as strangers and leave as something much better. This is the dinner you’ll tell people about.
